⚖️ Understanding Product Weights & Billing
At Wefulfil, transparency is key. That’s why, once your product arrives at our warehouse, we take detailed steps to ensure all shipping data is accurate and available to you:
Product Handling: Upon receipt, we weigh, measure, and photograph every item with packaging included.
Dashboard Updates: These details are automatically uploaded to your Wefulfil dashboard, where you can view the actual product weight on the product detail page.
Billing Weight: What You Need to Know
To help clients avoid unexpected costs, it’s important to understand how billing weight works.
How It’s Calculated
Default Method: We use actual (scale) weight by default.
Volumetric Rule: If the volumetric weight is higher than the actual weight, we bill based on the volumetric weight instead. This is an industry-standard used by nearly all major carriers.
Note: Shipping fees based on volumetric weight are calculated by the carrier, not by us. This accounts for the space occupied during transport, particularly for large but lightweight items.
General Rule of Thumb
- If your product is bulky but light, it will likely be billed using volumetric weight.
- If your product is heavier than its size suggests, actual weight will be used instead.
If you have questions about how this applies to your supply chain or want help optimizing your packaging for cost efficiency, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to review and guide you.
